How to get there
John Hardy, actor, director and playwright brings his one-man adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol to The Jackson Theatre on Sunday, December 13 at 4pm.
Hardy portrays more than 40 characters throughout the production, using changes in voice, movement and expression to bring the classic story to life. The play follows Dickens’s original story scene by scene, offering audiences a familiar holiday tradition presented in an entirely different way. The Albuquerque Journal called Hardy’s production “a stunning work of theatrical virtuosity,” adding, “You will be transfixed from the first moment.”
Hardy has spent more than 45 years working professionally as an actor, director and playwright. His career has included work with Barter Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse, Nebraska Shakespeare and The Lamb’s Theatre Off-Broadway. His plays have been produced more than 300 times around the world. Hardy also has strong ties to the region. A former ETSU student, he currently serves as an associate artist with Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia.
Funny, heartwarming and faithful to Dickens’s beloved story, Hardy’s adaptation is performed entirely by one actor without costume changes.
