This summer, the Metropolitan Opera brings two past performances from its renowned The Met: Live in HD series of cinema transmissions back to select movie theaters worldwide. The 2026 Summer Encores include the 2025 transmission of the Met’s new production of Verdi’s Aida on August 22, directed by Michael Mayer and starring soprano Angel Blue—the bestselling title of the series following the company’s return from the Covid-19 closure.

In this powerful 2025 Met performance, soprano Angel Blue sings the title role of Verdi’s Egyptian drama, with tenor Piotr Beczała as the warrior Radamès and mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi as Amneris in Michael Mayer’s spectacular staging. Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts.
The Met: Live in HD 2026–27 Season
The 2026–27 Live in HD season, marking the 20th anniversary of the series, kicks off on September 26, 2026, with Twenty Years of the Met in Cinemas: An Anniversary Celebration, a special presentation featuring highlights from the company’s collection of more than 185 extraordinary onscreen performances. Screening dates will vary internationally.
The season continues with Mozart’s Così fan tutte (October 10, 2026), Verdi’s Macbeth (October 17, 2026), Saint-Saëns’s Samson et Dalila (December 5, 2026), Puccini’s La Fanciulla del West (January 23, 2027), Kevin Puts’s Silent Night (March 20, 2027), Massenet’s Manon (April 3, 2027), Verdi’s Otello (April 24, 2027), and Wagner’s Parsifal (June 5, 2027). All performances will be Saturday matinees transmitted live from the Met stage. Special encore screenings of Bizet’s Carmen (November 21, 2026), Mozart’s The Magic Flute (December 12, 2026), and Puccini’s Tosca (May 8, 2027) will be presented at select venues. Tickets will go on sale in the U.S. and Canada on July 22.
