Jonesborough's Veterans Affairs Committee was instrumental in working with the Town to develop our Veterans Park at the Jonesborough Visitor Center. The groundbreaking ceremony on the Jonesborough Veterans Park was conducted in November 1999. The Park was completed and dedicated in May 2000. The Park was constructed to honor Washington County Military Veterans who have served in the United State Military from 1776 through the current date. The park underwent a major renovation in 2009 with the addition of a granite water feature and space for an additional 720 bricks. Currently +1,600 bricks reside in the park honoring our military veterans. The Veterans Affairs Committee also hosts many community events honoring veterans every year with a Memorial Day Ceremony in May and Veterans Day Tribute in November. The care of Veterans Park and the annual ceremonies are supported through donations.
